Yoo Yeon Seok is accused of belittling an employee who worked at his apartment complex years ago.
On March 21, a netizen shared that the Korean actor—along with his friends—allegedly insulted his father who's a security guard after making small talk with him. According to The Korea Times, the security guard asked if he owns a bicycle and Yeon Seok reportedly snapped, replying: "Would I ride that crappy bicycle? You think that's mine?". The person who wrote the post further claimed that the Hospital Playlist star pointed his finger at his father and the humiliation triggered him to resign from his job.
Yeon Seok's agency, King Kong by Starship, was quick to dismiss the speculations and confirmed that it was "completely groundless." They also filed a defamation complaint to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency against the netizen. Not long after the label's statement was released, the individual who posted the claims allegedly apologized and said that he was just jealous of Yeon Seok because of his growing popularity. "I have never met him, but I think he must be an actor with a good personality full of consideration."
However, he corrected his comment and said that he "didn't write the apology letter that came up under the same user ID [as mine]. My father probably did not quit the security guard job because of Yoo Yeon Seok." The actor's agency will continue with their plans without leniency and highlighted that Yeon Seok used to give gifts to the security guard during the holidays.
