For the second time, South Korean-American artist Jessi expressed apologies for an assault incident involving a fan and a man allegedly accompanying her. Jessi is known for her hit songs, "Zoom," "NUNU NANA," and "Gum."
On October 23, Wednesday, the rapper-singer posted on Instagram, conveying her sincere regrets towards the victim's family. According to Yonhap News, Jessi wrote, "I would like to express my apology to the victim and his family who suffered damage due to this incident."
The celebrity was accused of neglecting a fan who was reportedly hit by a man who appeared to be among Jessi's company on September 29, 2024. The incident was reported by JTBC on October 11 detailing that the victim was an 18-year-old fan who had asked Jessi for a photograph. South Korean news outlet, The Korea Herald stated that the fan claimed that after his request was rejected by Jessi, a man suddenly hit him in the face.
"Even though the incident wasn't caused by me, I have hurt many people, including the victim, with my wrong actions, attitude and lack or responded from the time the incident occurred until now, and I made them feel betrayed and angry," Jessi continued in her statement.
According to The Korea Herald, Jessi was questioned by the police as a suspect in the incident on October 16, 2024. There, she claimed that she had tried to stop the assailant before the situation escalated. But, the man, whom she claims to be someone she just met on that day only, did not listen resulting in Jessi leaving the scene.

The Internet reacts to Jessi's controversy
Jessi earlier posted her first apology on social media. Along with her apology, she also announced the termination of her exclusive contract with her agency, DOD.
"I regret it thousands and millions of times. I wish I could go back to that time. If I had taken a picture with the victim, if I had been more proactive protecting the victim, if I had gone to the police station right away, if I had made a proper apology, the victim would not have suffered like this. All of this is my responsibility," she stated.

While there are people from the Internet who think Jessi really could have handled the situation better, some online citizens think Jessi is under fire for a crime she did not commit. One Internet user said, "i can't believe people aren't talking about how jessi literally got dropped from her company, is getting harassed online by korean media AND got sued because 2 men got in a fight and she happened to be there."
