Music is special in a way that it gives us comfort, but the artists behind the songs truly complete the ~*feels*~. This is exactly what I felt when I first encountered The Rose back in 2019. I was randomly browsing videos on YouTube when the Korean band's cover of "ILYSB" by LANY appeared in the recommendations. Out of curiosity, I clicked it and it was one of the moments where being curious does magic in my life.

From then, I started searching about The Rose and instantly fell in love with their music mainly because their genre suits my preference so well. The Rose is composed of four members and they debuted with their single "Sorry" in 2017. Leader Woosung explained that the band's name means "to show music that coexisted with the beauty of flowers and the sharpness of thorns."  Currently, The Rose is under their self-made label, Windfall, proving how sincere they are with their craft.

At this point, we believe you want to know more about this talented group of musicians. Don't worry because we got you! Let's start your journey to becoming a Black Rose (their fandom name) when you scroll down.

Here's your guide to the members of The Rose:

1. Woosung (Leader, Lead Vocalist, Electric Guitarist)

Woosung was born on February 25, 1993, making him a Pisces. He came from Los Angeles, California and his English name is Sammy. At the young age of 12, he already learned how to play the guitar. Woosung got musically influenced by AC/DC's guitarist Angus Young when he watched a video of him, and he then improvised a guitar out of a wooden sword and his shoelaces. Thankfully, he has a very supportive Mom who bought him a real guitar as a Christmas present. Some of you might have seen Woosung before his debut when he participated in SBS' K-Pop Star Season 1.

Despite being the leader of the band (and the white rose), Woosung was actually the last member to join The Rose. His voice will immediately register in your mind because he sings in *cursive.* It's so refreshing to hear and it's as if he's ~taking you to space.~ If you're looking for proof, you can check his debut EP WOLF which was released on July 25, 2019. Aside from the numerous talents that he has, he's also gifted with unique abilities like beatboxing and…mimicking a crow. Check more of Woosung's individual works on his YouTube channel and Instagram account (@iwoosung).

2. Dojoon (Main Vocalist, Keyboardist, Acoustic Guitarist)

Moving to the next member is Woosung's fellow 1993 liner and the group's red rose, Dojoon. He was born on April 20, 1993 in Busan, South Korea. Just like Woosung, he also trained under DSP Media and we have to thank him for recruiting their leader into the band. Dojoon goes by the English name, Leo, and he can also speak the language fluently having lived in New Zealand (his fave childhood memory is running through the fields) for five years. The 29-year-old was really born to be in the music scene and everyone witnessed it when he started playing the piano. His musical influences include Jason Mraz, The Script, and Coldplay.

The member loves Iron Man so much that he even collects merchandise of the Marvel character. Dojoon also enjoys international cuisines, particularly Italian food like pasta, lasagna, and pizza. If you want to see updates on his daily life, follow him on Twitter and Instagram @parclassic.

3. Hajoon (Drummer, Sub-Vocalist, Rapper)

The Rose's blue rose is Hajoon who was born on July 29, 1994, in Gwangju, South Korea. He goes by the English name, Dylan. Watch the live performances of the band and you'll be amazed at how great he is as a drummer (and a singer). Hajoon's interest in drums was already visible when he was young as he started playing the instrument during grade school. He diligently learned to play the drums by majoring in practical music at Dankook University.

Hajoon's role model in music is the band The 1975. He also loves the music of Girls Generations' Taeyeon and he's hoping to collaborate with her someday. Hajoon likes watching anime, especially One Piece. Another cute trait about him that you will easily remember is that he laughs like Spongebob SquarePants. Get to know more sides of Hajoon through his IG account, @l_hajoon.

4. Jaehyeong (Maknae, Bassist, Sub-Vocalist, Visual)

The Rose's maknae (youngest) Jaehyeong is the band's pink rose which stands for happiness and romance. He was born on November 3, 1994 in Pohang but he grew up in Samcheok, Gangwon-do, South Korea. Just like his hyungs (older brothers), he also has an English name which is Jeff. Prior to debuting in The Rose, he was a part of a busking band called Windfall alongside his members, Hajoon and Dojoon. Jaehyeong owns two basses—the red-colored one and the wooden bass he named Juicy.

Jaehyeong is also a huge fan of Coldplay and he likes the Japanese rock band ONE OK ROCK. For his hobbies, he enjoys cooking and playing games like Battle Ground and Overwatch with his friends. Jaehyeong once said that he is not really confident in doing aegyo (cute poses) but for us, he's naturally adorable especially when he smiles!
