When K-pop girl group New Jeans released two music videos of their tracks Cool With You and Get Up — the internet went *crazy*!
It’s only because who could ever think of casting *the* Hong Kong actor Tony Leung and Squid Game hotshot Jung Ho Yeon together in a K-pop music video? It is definitely an unexpected roster of stars for a music video.
The MV is a two-part story (Side A and Side B) that begins with Ho Yeon as a lonely being which no one can see. Netizens speculate that Ho Yeon could be a godly creature, perhaps cupid, who fell in love with a mortal man.
At the end of the first music video (Side A), Ho Yeon smiles as she removes her clothing in the rain, symbolizing rebirth and freedom from her past self.
The story continues with Ho Yeon successfully starting a relationship with the mortal guy. However it ends with a conflicted Ho Yeon after seeing Tony’s character. Tony seems to be another cupid that struck Ho Yeon’s partner with a new love interest. In the end, the person Ho Yeon loves in the music video has eyes for another person because of Tony.
New Jeans’ second music video (Side B) ends with a prologue-like scene, still starring Ho Yeon, for the opening part of their track Get Up.
