'The Glory' Star Park Ji Ah Passes Away At 52

The Glory actress, Park Ji Ah, has died at the age of 52.

South Korean news outlets reported her death in the early morning of September 30, 2024. The actress' agency, Billions, said the actress passed away at 2:50 AM (Korean time) "due to complications from cerebral infarction," according to a report on Yonhap News, 

The agency's statement also read, "We will forever remember her passion for acting until the very end."

In a report by JTBC Entertainment News, it was detailed that Ji Ah collapsed and was hospitalized prior to her untimely demise. "She was a passionate actress [who was] dedicated to her craft, and it's truly sad," JTBC's source said.

ICYDK, Park Ji Ah portrayed the character of the heartless Jung Mi Hee, mother of the main protagonist Moon Dong Eun (Song Hye Kyo), in the 2022 Netflix seriesThe Glory.

Her portrayal as the abusive and negligent mother justified the pains of Moon Dong Eun, whose main motivation throughout the series was to exact revenge against her enemies.

After her The Glory stint, the actress appeared in the theatrical scene this year. JTBC Entertainment News also reported that Ji Ah was an active theater star earlier this year with the stage play, Wife. Additionally, one of her last public appearances in the Korean entertainment scene was her attendance at the VIP screening of the film, Wonderland in May, led by stars Park Bo Gum and Bae Suzy.

Park Ji Ah's funeral is held at the Seoul Asan Hospital Funeral Hall until October 2nd.
