There's an increasing number of freelancers in the Philippines. People either need to take up a side hustle to make ends meet, or they want to quit following someone else's rules and be their own boss. But according to a survey published by Expert Market, the Philippines is actually one of the top 10 worst countries for freelancers.
Expert Market evaluated 57 countries based on eight different factors: cost of living, income taxes, access to credit, average internet speed, cost of a cup of coffee, public transpo, free Wi-Fi availability, and the ease of starting your own business.
Expert Market used all the data they gathered to come up with a "weighted average" used to give each country a total score.
Here are the best countries for freelancers:
- Hong Kong
- United States
- South Korea
- United Arab Emirates
- United Kingdom
- Spain
- New Zealand
- Estonia
- Bulgaria
- Czech Republic
And the worst:
- Uruguay
- Argentina
- Israel
- Philippines
- Ecuador
- Slovenia
- Costa Rica
- Ireland
- Belgium
- Peru
