Aircraft pilots and related associate professionals are reported to have an average monthly salary of P135,363 in 2022. ICYMI, The PSA conducted an occupational wages survey in 2022 and rounded up the other highest-paying jobs in the Philippines.

Next to aircraft professionals are software developers who bring home an average monthly wage of P70,595. These developers are responsible for Information Service Activities.

If you're someone who loves Mathematics, you should consider taking up a career surrounded by Math. Mathematicians and actuaries reportedly have an average wage rate of P69,654 per month.

How can you negotiate a higher salary?

We all applied for and accepted our jobs for a reason. For some people, their jobs are their passion. Others consider it a good catch because of the logistics or benefits, or because it is their comfort zone regardless of the salary.

But here's something you should know: you can (and should!) negotiate for the salary that you think you deserve.

Human resources consultant Rhonadale Florentino, once talked about the "passive" and "active" approaches employees can try when negotiating for a bigger salary—especially when you're at the job offer stage.

The passive approach can be applied during the job interview stage, where the applicant can ask the hiring manager about the prospects of salary increases and other bonuses.

The active approach, on the other hand, requires actual negotiation. When negotiating a salary with the hiring manager, make sure to pitch an amount above your salary expectation. This way, you can still lower the rate and compromise if the hiring manager finds it surpasses what the company can afford, Rhonadale said.

Remember: job applicants and potential employees should know how to properly negotiate a higher salary, so they do not have to pass up on a role that they really want. You can always quantify your work and present proof and a track record to justify how much you're negotiating for.
