Does age matter in workplaces? The answer should be no, but some jobs have age qualifications. Senior citizens, aka individuals who are aged 60 years old and above, aren't usually employed in our country. Our society believes that they should enjoy their retirement. But in reality, there are senior citizens who hope to still aim to be part of the workplace.
The Philippine government passed a law stating that proper training and resources must be provided to senior citizens who have the desire to be a part of the labor industry. Despite this law, age requirements in workplaces are still imposed by some companies.
Luckily, there are some employers that have declared their openness to employees of all ages. Among those companies is the fast-food chain, KFC, which is known for its addictive fried chicken!
Its August 2023 hiring advertisement featured 77-year-old Tatay Roberto who became part of KFC's Senior Crew Hiring Program. The fast-food chain's program encourages senior citizens to work part-time with their team and discover new experiences in life even at any age. In fact, KFC has been implementing its Senior Crew Hiring program since 2022.

KFC also featured Nanay Chit, 70 years old, who is one of the fast food crew at KFC Pureza. Indeed, it's never too late for us to create a more inclusive workplace for everyone regardless of gender, appearance, and age. Check out KFC's senior citizen program here.
