Melai Cantiveros Reveals That Her Husband Jason Is Hands-Off With Her Money
In the case of Melai Cantiveros, she revealed that her husband is actually hands-off when it comes to the money she earns. Melai was recently interviewed by content creator Viy Cortez at a fashion brand's event and was asked if she still asks for permission from her husband when she shops.
"Kapag nag-sho-shopping, nagpapaalam ka pa ba sa partner or husband?" Viy asked Melai.
Melai, ever the comedian, joked, "Walang paalam paalam, kasi wala ako respeto!"
She quickly clarified that her husband, Jason Francisco, doesn't micromanage the money she earns and where she chooses to spend it. "In Jesus' name naman, ang husband ko is very... wala siyang paki sa finances ko naman."
"So, money ko is money ko, money niya is money namin," she quipped again.
Melai revealed that she doesn't need to ask for permission from Jason to go on shopping sprees because it's her own money that she spends.
"Hindi na 'ko nagpapaalam, [bumibili] lang ako ng gusto ko kasi wala naman siya pakialam d'un," she divulged.
It seems that the couple has a *healthy* relationship when it comes to money matters. In a separate interview with Ogie Diaz last year, Melai said that Jason never asks about the details of the talent fees that she earns from her projects. Instead, he just continues to do his own thing to provide for their family.
"Hanggang ngayon hindi niya alam ang mga TF ko. [...] Sabi niya, "Ang pera mo ay sa'yo, ang pera ko ay sa atin." Na-amaze talaga ako kasi bigay talaga siya nang bigay ng pera," Melai declared.

Melai Cantiveros and Jason Francisco's Relationship
Melai and Jason first met in 2009 on the set of the hit reality show Pinoy Big Brother, where they were both housemates. In 2013, they got married three months after Melai announced her pregnancy with their first child, Mela.
In 2016, the couple confirmed their separation after almost three years of marriage. They were, however, able to reconcile and subsequently announce Melai's pregnancy with their second child, Stela.
