Maneuvering through the ins and outs of show business can be tricky. There are the fails, the floundering, and the occasional challenges that feel like free-falling. Proving that they’re a stable institution in the industry, VIVA Artists Agency has the moves that made them thrive through the years, providing a home to the country’s biggest stars including nation’s sweetheart Anne Curtis and pop royalty Sarah Geronimo.
Behind the mega names is Veronique Del Rosario-Corpus, who played a big part in honing and nurturing talents that are staples in every Pinoy household’s entertainment digest. As the President and COO of one of showbiz’s biggest artist agencies, she helms the team who creates the roadmap of artists, as well as selling them to various clients like agencies and TV networks. She also provides an upper hand in training up-and-coming stars and helping them thrive in a cutthroat industry. Aside from VAA, Veronique also handles VIVA Life, the agency responsible for concerts and events of VIVA.
Asked about her secret to being a successful star maker, Veronique’s eye for talent shines the most. “Some of the successful icons now—Anne Curtis, Sarah Geronimo—were handpicked during auditions. So it’s very fulfilling when you see them now as icons in the entertainment industry. It’s like you have a hand, and at least you contributed to the success of their stories."
Despite having the headstart as a daughter of VIVA’s main man Vic Del Rosario, Veronique emphasizes the value of hard work and compassion in her success. “There are no shortcuts in the industry. Even if you're the daughter, you have to prove to everyone that you can handle pressure, that you can handle the business. It’s also important to be sensitive to the needs of your artists. You can be a friend, mother, or sister.
“It’s the way you treat them; you treat them like family. So, you’re there in any situation. We also value clients. It's also important to have a good relationship with clients. It’s what my dad has taught us. That is why he is well-loved in the industry."
