To some, Sanrio remains a throwback to our childhood, a cute reminder of our younger years. But in 2024, Sanrio proved to us its enduring relevance beyond childhood with the recent 2024 Sanrio Character Ranking Contest.
Started in 1986 in the monthly newspaper 'Ichigo Shinbun,' the Sanrio Character Awards has been an annual tradition and a way for the Japanese company to promote Sanrio ~*fan favorites*~.
To start, the company selects 90 characters from an initial list of 450 Sanrio characters. The official voting is done on the Sanrio Character Awards Official Website. To qualify to vote, you must obtain tickets earned from the video game 'Hello Sweet Days' or through a purchase of any items at the in-app store. The official voting for this year ran from April 11, 2024 to May 26, 2024.
