Have you watched Netflix's Squid Game? We're sure you've seen posts of the gigantic creepy doll from episode one and memes of the red button and green button. There are also all the funny photos referencing Gong Yoo, the black box tied with a pink ribbon, and the card with the circle, triangle, and square. Of course, there's the honeycomb game, too—which if you didn't know, is the inspiration behind the trendy Dalgona coffee.
One of the games played in Squid Game is the honeycomb challenge, where the players have to carve out a certain shape out of a honeycomb disc (ppopogi) using a needle. Some players had it easier when they had to carve a circle, triangle, or star, while the others were unfortunate to get the difficult shape of an umbrella.
If you want to play Squid Game's honeycomb challenge, we know exactly where you can try it out:
Hodai Restaurant
Location: 14 Examiner Street, West Triangle, Quezon City
Hodai Restaurant is offering the honeycomb challenge at a price! For full-paying adult customers who order the restaurant's Daebag Set (P599/head), four boxes will be presented and customers will have to choose one box.
The box contains one dalgona candy with an imprinted shape. If the customer gets to cleanly trim away the edges of the imprinted shape, they can get a free Daebag Set.
Hodai Restaurant's Daebag Set includes unlimited pork, unlimited beef, unlimited shrimp, unlimited sashimi, unlimited sushi, unlimited side dishes, and unlimited sauces. Everything is priced at P599 per head.
This promo is available until October 10, 2021 only.
La Vienne Bakery
Location: Omnistellar Building, Fil-Am Friendship Hi-way, Angeles City, Pampanga
La Vienne Bakery is known for its Strawberry Lattes and now they have their first-ever cafe in Pampanga that offers a Squid Game-inspired coffee named the Moon Rock Lattè (P179). It's called such because the honeycomb disc looks like the moon, while the bubbles look like craters.
According to La Vienne Bakery, the Moon Rock Latté has always been their bestseller even before Squid Game. Before the series premiered on Netflix, the bakery topped this drink with crushed dalgona, but later on, they decided to use the honeycomb or dalgona disc on top after Squid Game's popularity skyrocketed.
