In a January 2021 statement, Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson pledged to become a leader in environmental sustainability, saying, "Our aspiration is to become resource positive—storing more carbon than we emit, eliminating waste, and providing more clean freshwater than we use," adding that they "will shift from single-use to reusable packaging."
