PAWSsion Project is a dog rescue group based in Bacolod, Philippines. "We rescue, rehab and rehome," reads its page description on Facebook.
The page became a target of a ransomware hacker in which an attacker threatens to publish the victim's sensitive data or asks for payment before returning the stolen page or website to the owner.

But things were quickly resolved after the hacker learned the Facebook page is saving puppies.
When the owner told the hacker the group is a non-profit that saves animals, the hacker had a change of heart.
"I love animals very much, I did not see that it is about animals. I would not do such a thing if I could," the hacker told Malou Perez, founder of PAWSsion Project and owner of its Instagram account that got hacked.
