Being a pro athlete entails lots of sacrifices on top of busy schedules and hectic
stretches of training sessions and competitions all year-long. It's almost as if
there's no time to breathe and take a step back from all the action on the court.
But if there's a particular time of the year they'll definitely pin on their calendars
with a keen eye on, it's for sure the holiday season!
With the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) on a month-long break, your favorite
volleybelles are out and about to spend time away from spiking and digging and
everything in between. In fact, they're using the time off in rather creative and
special ways to either catch up with lost time or write new chapters in their
personal lives altogether. A quick trip—and scroll—down IG takes us to the merry
and humble adventures your favorite PVL stars have been up to!
How your favorite Filipina volleyball players celebrated Christmas 2024
Alyssa Valdez
Home will always be where the heart is for our December 2024 cover star Alyssa Valdez. Just days after her PVL champion team Creamline Cool Smashers' well-deserved Christmas trip to Korea to celebrate their Grand Slam win, Valdez made it a point to have a phenom-enal end to a very special year with her extended family and love ones! She shared a few good snaps of her cutesy constants featuring her young and adorable nephews and nieces alongside the Valdez clan's super seniors (and her doggo, too)! Not to mention, also taking center stage is a glowing and vibrant Christmas tree fit for a Phenom's fam!

In a year of ups and downs—one where she missed a third of the year to recover from injury, Valdez's return to form and fitness on the court plus spending much-needed quality time with her biggest supporters couldn't have been a better way to end the Phenom's 2024!
Rachel Anne Daquis
It was a Christmas as special—and as 'rad'—as can be for Rachel Daquis. Blessings were aplenty in her life on and off the court as a baker-slash-owner of the first Filipino bakery in Barcelona in 'Forn de Manila' before deciding to end her volleyball hiatus and return to the PVL with the Farm Fresh Foxies. RAD took it upon herself to spread the holiday cheer in the season of giving by handing out Farm Fresh products to children, vendors, pedestrians and whoever she came across the streets of Pasay City.

A few weeks before Christmas, Daquis also paid a visit to a local orphanage in her hometown of Taytay, Rizal where she treated kids and their caretakers to snacks, drinks, and plenty of goodies in a fun-filled day of joy, love and giving back to those in need.
Deanna Wong and Ivy Lacsina
It might just be the holidays but Valentines came in early for #DeaVy! Love is in the air for one of Philippine volleyball’s ultimate power couples today in Choco Mucho Flying Titans fan-favorite ace Deanna Wong and Akari Chargers star Ivy Lacsina. And how they spent the yuletide season is sure to bring all the kilig feels to their legions of loyal fans!

Wong spent Christmas day together with the Lacsina fam in their hometown of San Fernando, Pampanga. IG photos shared by Ivy's sis Irish show a green-and-white-themed celebration in a house of 12, including the two lovebirds.Their teams may be fierce rivals on the volleyball court, but there is certainly no love lost for the very cutesy 'DeaVy'!

Savi Davison
Savi stays slayin' even in the holidays! The PLDT High Speed Hitters' fierce Fil-Canadian spiker Savi Davison brought her lethal flair (and face card) to the sands of Siargao as she spends the holiday season in the Philippines for the very first time. It might not be as cold and breezy of a Christmas as she'd often have in her hometown of Toronto, Canada, but the promise of warmth and a great time in Filipino beaches is a change she was more than keen to welcome.

Davison went on an adventure in the renowned vacation hotspot with her Canadian beau Brett Brault, who's in the car industry and also does some travel vlogs on the side on TikTok. From palm trees to cold drinks and breathtaking views, Savi's latest IG post says it all on what a blast of a first Christmas in her home away from home has been.
Kianna Dy
KKD and her fam went full tourist mode in the Land of the Rising Sun for the holidays. Through the cold air and velvet snow, it was the warmth of an un-Dy-niable family love that shone through this Christmas. As shared by Kianna's mom Bambi on IG, the Dy clan took a holiday photo in front of Japan's ever-iconic Glico Running Man in Osaka—arguably a must-do around this part of town.

We might not have seen photos of this just yet, but KKD's boyfie and Gilas Pilipinas hotshot Dwight Ramos just happens to play in the Japan B.League with Levanga Hokkaido. Safe to say, this LDR is about to have a dose of holiday cheer! #KKDwight Christmas crumbs for us, soon? Manifesting!

Jema Galanza and Ella de Jesus
"Mareng Jema" made sure to bring Creamline's signature good vibes around the
world for the holidays! PVL and Alas Pilipinas superstar Jema Galanza had herself and the rest of the Grand Slam champions Cool Smashers a well-deserved vacation in Korea before embarking on a series of exhibition matches for the Filipino community in Canada.

Galanza checked off a few bucket list items in Korea with her partner and teammate Ella de Jesus. Not only did they breeze through the iconic Nami Island, they also had a dream adventure in a snowy Seoul where Jema had her K-drama moment in the Starfield Library!

Sounds familiar? It was the library featured in the 2020 K-drama Record of Youth which starred Park Bo-gum and Park So Dam. How about that for a holiday getaway?
Jheck Dionela
Now this is what (holiday) dreams are made of. Christmas 2024 is one Jheck Dionela will forever remember as the day she said yes to her athlete-partner of seven years in Alon Untalan, who popped the question on the 25th itself, right in front of their families and loved ones!
It was the perfect Christmas gift anyone could've asked for as the soon-to-be newlyweds shared memorable snaps and the actual proposal video in a room filled with rose petals, mini-candles, and polaroid photos of some of their most cherished moments together in almost a decade. (Us when?)

Christmas bells might have rung the sweetest tune for the Farm Fresh libero, but there won't be a feeling quite like the time when the wedding bells finally ring. Guess Jheck got all she wanted for Christmas—and more—this year!
