What is Giraffe Manor?
Dubbed "the most unforgettable bucket-list breakfast in the world," the exclusive boutique hotel is owned by The Safari Collection and gives visitors a feeling like they've walked straight into the film Out of Africa. Fun fact: One of the historic manor house's 12 rooms is named after Karen Blixen, the author of the 1937 autobiographical book!
Set on 12 acres of private land and housed within 140 acres of indigenous forest, one of the most iconic aspects of Giraffe Manor is its resident herd of Rothschild’s giraffes. The species of giraffe was once highly endangered, but Giraffe Manor has long been part of a successful breeding program that has grown their numbers in the wild.

How many rooms are available in Giraffe Manor?
The original Manor House was built in 1932 and was made up of six rooms: five Superior rooms (Betty, Daisy, Jock, Lynn, and Marlon) and the Karen Blixen Suite. In 2011 The Garden Manor was created, and it sits right next door. Another six guest rooms were made available in the new section: another five Superior rooms (Salma, Edd, Arlene, Helen, and Kelly) and the Finch Hatton Suite.
Do note that the giraffes do not have access to the Arlene, Salma, and Edd superior rooms, so if you're looking to have that unique interaction with the herd then you're better off booking a stay in the Kelly superior room (they often come to visit this room in the early morning hours before breakfast), and the Finch Hatton Suite (they come looking for treats from the rooms above and the adjoining dining room).

How much does it cost to stay in Giraffe Manor?
Following the 2023 rates, each night in a Superior Room will cost you $1,667 USD per night (around P92,646), while the most expensive booking is the Karen Blixen Suite at $3,630 USD per night (approximately P201,742). Children aged three to 11 years are inclusive, while a child 12 years old or older is an adult. Children two years and under are considered an infant, and infants stay FOC (Free Of Charge).
By "Fully Inclusive," aside from VAT (Value-Added Tax) guests can expect the following:
- Coordination of arrival/departure transfers and transportation around the Karen & Langata area (included in the rate if the collection time is after 11:30 am on the day of arrival and prior to check out at 10:00 am on the day of departure)
- Provision of all meals, including house wines, house soft drinks, house beers, and house spirits
- Laundry services
- Wireless internet access
- Entrance to the AFEW Giraffe Centre
- Dining options at the Orchid House
- Access to The Retreat during check in and check out times
- Equipment and facilities to play boules or croquet

Also, if you wish to host a wedding at Giraffe Manor the property has to be booked on an exclusive use basis for three consecutive nights.
The 2024 rates show a marked price increase: a Superior Room will cost you $1,883 USD per night (around P104,645), while the Karen Blixen Suite at $3,993 USD per night (approximately P221,905).
