The Starbucks Daegu Jongro Goteak is built with hanoks in mind. ICYDK, a hanok is a traditional Korean-style house that has giwa (tiles) roofing and a wooden architectural structure. They were first designed during the Joseon dynasty, that's why one look at them and you'll immediately be transported back in time. You've seen hanoks in some of your favorite K-dramas such as The King's Affection and Mr. Queen.
This Starbucks branch in Daegu has an open layout and ground seating (there are also the ~usual~ tables and chairs) that faces a garden to *complete* the experience. With this design, heat is retained during the winter season while the interiors are cool in the summertime. Traditional wall paintings are also peppered all over the place for everyone to admire.
Apart from being an architectural wonder, Daegu is also known as a UNESCO City Of Music and Starbucks made sure to include this recognition in their Jongro Goteak store! There's a spot in the cafe that's specifically for music in partnership with Danish manufacturer Bang & Olufsen (B&O). Customers can also purchase a B&O Beosound Explore Portable Bluetooth Speaker at the said branch.
