If you're anything like us, chances are, you'd probably like to go on holiday more. Despite rinsing staycation options and cheap summer destinations, we'd still like to squeeze a ~little~ bit more annual leave out of the year ahead.
And one person who obviously felt the same is influencer Natala Taylor, who faked a trip to Bali on her Instagram by sharing photos with geotags and teaser captions—that were actually taken in Ikea.
In one photo, the Instagrammer is lounging in a fancy bathtub. In another, she posed in front of a floral print mirror, while in a third, she's on the phone in front of a tropical plant. "The queen has arrived #bali," she wrote in the caption, while in another, she added: "Where should I travel to next? Comment below and maybe I will ;)"
Every one of the photos was tagged in Bali, Indonesia. Fans were commenting things like, " I’ve been to Bali! It’s amazing! Where are you staying?" and "I love Bali! Have the best
Only, er, Natalia wasn't in Indonesia at all, but rather was staging a photoshoot in Ikea.
Explaining the stunt on her YouTube channel, Natalia revealed her reasoning behind it was to remind fans not always to believe what you see on social media. "Sometimes, people want to lie about who they are," she commented. "It's not hard to do... I think this video has a lesson. Don't trust everything you see on the internet!"
While the stunt does seem a little far fetched (as Natalia admits, considering she didn't share any photos from iconic Bali destinations, fans probably would've caught on quite quickly), the message is still the same. Don't believe everything you see!
