Japan remains a top destination for Filipino travelers, ranking among the seven most-visited countries according to the Japan National Tourism Organization (JNTO). In 2024 alone, 818,700 Filipinos visited Japan—a 31.6% (!) increase from 622,293 in 2023.

If you're one of those who haven't been to Japan yet but have been dreaming of it, here's some great news: getting a Japan visa is now easier! The Embassy of Japan has announced the opening of five new Japan Visa Application Centers (JVACs) across the Philippines, making the application process more accessible than ever.

Starting April 7, 2025, these JVACs will operate in Paranaque, Makati, Quezon City, Cebu, and Davao. All centers will be open Monday to Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m.

  • Arrive 15 minutes early.
  • You must attend in person; no one else can go in your place.
  • Only applicants and one parent/caregiver (for children under 18) may enter the Visa Application Center.

    • A printed visa application and two copies of 2D barcoded sheets.
    • Two copies of your passport bio page and your valid passport (with at least two blank pages).
    • All supporting documents (originals and copies).
