These Are The Five Travel Essentials Pia Wurtzbach Brings With Her *Everywhere*

In her Cosmo October 2023 cover interview, beauty queen, author, and budding entrepreneur Pia Wurtzbach gave us all the updates about how her life has been since her Miss Universe 2015 win. She's got a lot of projects lined up, but of course, she also dished about getting married to Jeremy Jauncey a.k.a. the CEO of content studio Beautiful Destinations.

Pia's work brings her around the world—including fashion weeks in Milan and Paris—and that means she knows all about traveling. So, during Pia's Cosmo cover shoot, in addition to asking about her beauty essentials, we also asked her what she packs in her luggage every time she's on the road. And not only is everything practical, but they're also easy to shop for yourself.

1. Instax Instant Camera
   

   

   Pia's Instagram feed is full of her photos travelling around the world, so a camera as her first travel essential makes a lot of sense. In an Instagram post from March 2023, Pia shared a photo of what's inside her travel bag, which included the Instax Square SQ1 Instant Camera in white that's available for P6,999 on Lazada and Shopee. "You need a really good camera. It depends on what you like—are you more of an Instax kind of person? I love Instax. I collect Instax all the time," she says during the Cosmo cover shoot.
   
   While Pia always has her Instax on hand, she also considers the type of photos you might want for your trip. "Do you like a small DSLR? Or maybe your phone. But just have a nice camera with you."

   In line with her camera reco, Pia also suggests a way to keep your photos safe. "I want to say back up your files. [Have] a hard drive or have a cloud [storage] or something because the worst is for you to lose all of your vacation pictures," she says. She knows the implications of losing all your valuable vacay pics. "Sayang yung Instagram posts, sayang yung binayad mo to get there, you lose everything."
   
   While Pia didn't specify which hard drive she uses, the best-selling one on Lazada is the Toshiba Canvio Basics External Hard Drive that's available in 1TB for P1,645.72 (from P4,512) and in 2TB for P2,194.62 (from P7,566). "I know it doesn't sound like a very glamorous essential," Pia says, "but it is. Once [losing your files] happens? Oh my gosh, it's a huge safety net."

3. Supergoop Sunblock

   Any Cosmo girl knows that the number one rule of skincare is sunblock. "Sunblock is something that I learned lately na lang, because I love being under the sun. And it's the ultimate sin—I used to bake without any sunblock because I love being tan. But you can achieve a tan with sunblock," Pia says. "It is so silly to think that we are stronger than the actual sun."
   
   As for the exact sunblock Pia uses? "Supergoop is the best one, because it doesn't have a white cast, it's not sticky, and it actually has a nice sheen." In her March Instagram post, Pia included the Supergoop PLAY Everyday Lotion SPF 50 PA++++ with Sunflower Extract (126mL) that's available for P2,180 on Lazada and for P2,260 on Sephora.
   
   For Pia, her sunblock also doubles as somewhat of a skin primer. "So, when people compliment me like, 'Oh, ang kinis ng balat mo,' I say, 'It's actually sunblock,'" Pia says with a laugh.

   The true jet-setter that she is, Pia knows it's important to have easy access to all your valuables while keeping them safe from pickpockets. (Atenzione!) "When you're traveling—aside from your travel tote—you also need a small crossbody bag that you won't have to think about so you can keep your hands free as you enjoy walking around."
   
   Pia says that a shoulder bag is still a bit of a hassle while she motions tucking an imaginary one under her arm. "Kasi hawak mo pa rin yan, eh. So, [have] something that you can strap on to yourself and have all your essentials there."
   
   There are a lot of crossbody bags that you can choose from online. This waterproof one from MAH that's P1,190 on Lazada keeps your things safe even when it rains. It has an adjustable strap, lots of space and pockets for your smaller items, and it also comes in the cutest colors.

   As a fashion girlie, Pia knows the value of a stylish pair of sunglasses. "Sometimes, sunglasses can elevate a look. Even if you're wearing just a white t-shirt and jeans, [when] you put on your favorite sunglasses, you look like a star," Pia says. True enough, she arrived at the Cosmo cover shoot in black sunglasses to complete her off-duty look.
   
   We asked if she has a go-to pair of sunglasses. "Yeah, the one that I borrowed and never returned from my stylist is a pair from Gentle Monster," she reveals, laughing. And now that Gentle Monster is finally open in Manila, she adds, "I don't have to steal it from my stylist anymore."
