Here's something you should know about me: I'm an avid reader. Or I was, until I got older (aka got busy with ~life~). But back in the day, I used to be able to finish full-length novels in a day, and even before that happened, I would already be thinking of the next read to add to my booklist.
As I got older though, I transitioned to downloading EPUBs or PDFs of books onto my phone and occasionally scrolling through them. I found it as a great way to pass the time, especially during my commutes to and from the office. Eventually, I found them to be too straining on my eyes (which were already bad enough as they were, LOL). I was also not making any progress on my booklist, as I was just rereading everything that I'd already downloaded on my phone.

For the new year, I decided to get a Kindle, after much persuasion from my friends who had the e-reader, plus my FYP filled with #kindletok and #booktok. It wasn't an easy purchase, as I knew they easily range from P6,000 to almost P10,000 plus for the pricier and newer models. After much research, I decided to get the Kindle 2022 11th Generation, which is the entry-level model for people who are interested in buying their first e-reader.

After just a week of having it, I can safely say that it's already my best purchase for 2024! If you're on the fence about buying it, here are five reasons you need this e-reader in your life:
5 Reasons You Need A Kindle If You're A Bookworm
1. Its screen is easy on the eyes.
One of the major advantages of the Kindle is its unique screen. Compared to our usual phone or tablet screens, the e-reader has a "glare-free display that reads like paper" and is supposed to feel less straining on the eyes. At first, I couldn't fathom how that kind of technology existed, but after ~*experiencing*~ its screen, I can attest to fewer headaches and eye strain. Amazing.

2. You can take it with you *everywhere*.
Another big draw of the Kindle for me is how portable it is. It has a six-inch display, meaning it can fit in even the smallest of my handbags. It lets me read anytime and anywhere, and within the week of getting my Kindle, I was already able to finish three (!!!) novels.

3. Its battery life is insane.
A single charge can last up to one to two weeks, depending on how high or low you set your brightness and how long you read, which means you'll have around 14 days of uninterrupted reading before you need to plug it in again. The Kindle also only requires a USB-C cord (which is included in the package). You'll only need to charge it for two hours to reach 100 percent.
4. There are thousands of e-books available to you at your fingertips.
Whether you buy e-books directly from Amazon or download them from the web, you can easily download books onto your Kindle. One of the easiest ways to do so is to download the PDF or EPUB file onto your phone or laptop and send it over to your Kindle email (which you get once you create an account on your e-reader). Easy peasy—say goodbye to those days of lugging around heavy books with you.
5. There is a supportive community online filled with fellow readers.
Before I made my purchase, I joined Kindle Philippines on Facebook. The group includes like-minded individuals who are either new to the e-reading community or are long-time users already. Aside from offering advice on Kindle devices, the group also gives book recommendations to add to your booklist. It also doubles as a buying and selling group, so if you prefer to buy a secondhand model, you can do so to save some money.
