Baguio just recorded its lowest temperature so far for 2020 as of February 1, 2020.
According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical, and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA), it dropped to as low as 10.2 degrees Celsius, even lower than the temperature recorded on January 4.
The state weather bureau explained that it's the coldest temperature so far since the amihan or northeast monsoon season started in October 2019. The season typically happens from October until March, with a spike in February.
ICYDK, tourist attractions in Baguio such as the city market, Burnham Park, and Mines View Park are currently undergoing rehabilitation. The city will still remain open to tourists, though, at this time.
On January 30, Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong canceled the Panagbenga Grand Opening Day Parade in light of the threat of novel coronavirus believed to have originated from Wuhan, China. The parade was originally scheduled for February 1.
