Commuting was extra difficult on October 7 with the Light Rail Transit Line-2 (LRT) still under maintenance after a fire broke out on October 3. The incident resulted in the closure of LRT-2’s stations in Santolan, Katipunan, and Anonas which could remain closed for up to nine months.
In a tweet shared by CNN Philippines, this is what this morning’s commute looked like as people scrambled to get on buses deployed by the Metro Manila Development Authority (MMDA) at the Santolan station:
According to a tweet by the LRTA, the LRT-2 will resume partial operations on October 8 from Cubao to Recto. The first train will leave Cubao Station at 6:00 a.m., while the last train will leave Cubao Station at 8:30 p.m. and Recto Station at 9:00 p.m.
The LRTA also released an official statement on October 7 which stated that safety checks have been conducted and stations have been cleared for operation.
