Heads up, travelers!
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) announced in an advisory on October 29 that the extension of e-passport validity is no longer allowed in compliance with the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) standards.
According to a report, the policy has already taken effect starting in October 2019.
The DFA also recommended that all passport renewal applicants should file for new passports at least a year before the date of expiry. The agency said, “The DFA appreciates the continued cooperation and understanding of the public.”
