Every Kindle owner probably had a mini-heart attack when the news first came out about Amazon removing ebook downloads on Kindle. But, as it turns out, it shouldn't be a cause of concern at all. You can still enjoy the "Send to Kindle" feature on your unit as is. (Yay!)
The new update only removed the ability to download and transfer copies of your ebooks to other formats and devices such as your PC, laptops, and other e-readers. At the same time, downloaded books on your computer will no longer be transferrable to your Kindle manually via USB. Only Wi-Fi transfers will be possible from now on. Phew!

When and Why Did Amazon Remove The Download And Transfer To USB Option?
Amazon officially removed the "Download and Transfer to USB" option on all Kindle models last February 26, 2025. But even before this, Kindle has already taken out the function in newer models, including the 2024 Kindle model. So if your Kindle and downloaded books are still doing fine, that's probably because they still are.
This new update may be shocking to those who have used their Kindles for years and got used to this method, especially when the Kindle wasn't Wi-Fi compatible. But now that it is, "Send to Kindle" using Wi-Fi is a more fuss-free way of doing the same thing.

How To Download ebooks To Your Kindle
Now that the formerly go-to "Download and Transfer to USB" option has officially gone bye-bye, here are other ways to send ebooks on your Kindle that you can explore.

Kindle App
First, you need to download the free Amazon Kindle app on your desktop device. Then, find a compatible ebook file you want to transfer. Once you have a compatible downloaded file, simply send it to the Kindle app. Once you click "send to Kindle", give it a few minutes and you'll already have a new book ready to read!
Kindle Unlimited
If you want an even easier option that doesn't require the Kindle app, you can simply get a Kindle Unlimited subscription on Amazon. It costs $9.99 or roughly P572 per month. If you're a new user, you can sign up for a free one-month trial to test the waters.
Send to Kindle for Email
The "Send to Kindle for Email" only requires an approved Kindle email address. You can find it at amazon.com/myk using your web browser or under the Devices tab in your Account settings. Once you've found your @kindle.com e-mail, all you have to do is send the e-book as a file attachment from your personal email and wait for it to pop up in your Kindle library.
