The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) says that Taal Volcano remains at Alert Level 4, which means a massive eruption is still possible within the next few days.
People have had to evacuate "high-risk areas as identified in the hazard maps within the 14-km radius from Taal Main Crater and along the Pansipit River Valley." SLEX reportedly experienced heavy traffic due to a large number of relief goods being brought to areas affected by the eruption.
If you're looking for a chance to help out, the Philippine Red Cross needs extra hands to sort and repack relief goods for Taal's victims.
From January 21 to 26, the PRC will be accepting volunteers—who only need to bring a water tumbler and wear a red shirt—in three shifts:
- 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
- 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Just head over to the PRC Logistics and Multi-Purpose Center (PLMC) at Pinatubo corner Apo Street, Mandaluyong City (at the back back of PRC Tower).
