This year's Valentine's Day appears to be the sweetest so far for Ashley Ortega. The reason? None other than her new boyfriend: Mavy Legaspi. Ashley was the first to speak about their relationship in an interview with Boy Abunda.
"Feeling ko obvious naman," Ashley first said when asked if she is exclusively going out with Mavy. The 26-year-old seemed shy about admitting her romantic relationship with Mavy, but later on, she gave in with a huge smile on her face.
As Ashley shared in the interview on February 10, she and Mavy have known each other since they started out as Sparkle artists. But it was only in 2024 that the two got the chance to get to know each other. "I met Mavy a few years ago—mga bata pa kami 'nun eh, I think when he started signing the contract with Sparkle. Pero, we started hanging out more last year. 'Dun ko siya nakilala talaga," Ashley stated.
It was after a night out with their common friends that became a way for them to reconnect and start something new. After a series of dates, Ashley and Mavy took their relationship to the next level. Now, they're going serious and steady.
Despite their age difference, Ashley admits to be a bit babyish in their relationship. ICYDK, Ashley is almost three years older than Mavy—but as Ashley puts it, the 24-year-old actor is nowhere near as immature as a boyfriend. "I thought before hindi niya mama-match 'yung maturity ko...but he's actually mature. In a relationship, parang ako nga 'yung pabebe girl [laughs] He takes care of me. 'Yun 'yung napatunayan niya while we're going out."
The two are also set to spend their first Valentine's Day together! "Actually, first time kong magkaroon ng Valentine's date ng February 14. So, I think it's a first for me also to experience it, kasi 'yung mga past ko, sablay lagi... Hopefully, sana hindi ma-jinx this Friday!" Ashley proclaimed.
Ashley Ortega on meeting Mavy Legaspi's family
As we all know, Mavy comes from a well-known celebrity family. His parents Carmina Villaroel and Zoren Legaspi, as well as his twin sister Cassy Legaspi, are all in showbiz. Ashley noted that prior to dating Mavy, she had already worked with Mavy's parents. And so meeting them wasn't new to her—except that she's now Mavy's girlfriend.
She shared that she spent a Christmas dinner together with the Legaspis and everything went well. "Mavy introduced me to them. Last December, they invited me [to] a Christmas dinner. They're very welcoming po, mababait po sila—and Cassy also," Ashley smiles as she describes her beau's family.
Ashley Ortega on working with Kyline Alcantara
During her conversation with Tito Boy, Ashley also spoke about her connection with Kyline Alcantara, who happens to be Mavy's ex-girlfriend. Ashley, Mavy, and Kyline are all working under the same management so it's not impossible for them to meet each other, especially when working.
When asked if she had already talked to Kyline, Ashley answered, "Actually, yesterday I was with her kasi nag-All Out Sundays kami. Nag-hi-hello kami... We're good naman. No beef. We're all happy."
It was in late 2023 when breakup speculations between Kyline and Mavy circulated online. The two went through their split quietly, without letting the people know the reason for it. Fast forward to 2024, after Kyline admitted she was already single and all, she slowly opened up again to the public with her new boyfriend, Kobe Paras.
