The endless cycle of swiping can lead to burnout and frustration. The disappointment of failed romances leaves us wondering if we'll ever find what we truly seek in relationships. But it appears that in 2024, we may now have those answers.

Bumble recently revealed its 2024 dating report based on a comprehensive user survey conducted before the end of 2023. The findings reveal a notable shift towards a more innovative approach to dating, signaling a *goodbye* from conventional norms.

The report underscores the growing importance of being intentional in the pursuit of love and companionship. Prioritizing authenticity has emerged as a key trend, with individuals valuing genuine connections over superficial ones. This shift is mirrored in the emphasis on values over appearance, awareness over ignorance, and vulnerability over imposter syndrome.

What Bumble Reveals About Dating in 2024

1. Authenticity > Superficiality

Working towards a better "you" this 2024 may be the key to finally find the love of your life. The Bumble report showed that the pursuit of unrealistic self-care standards has resulted in a significant portion of singles feeling pressured (55%) and at times inadequate (24%) in their search for a meaningful relationship.

2024 marks a significant shift with a majority of women (68%) actively moving towards "self-acceptance and prioritizing personal happiness." 40% of women are now seeking partners who appreciate them for who they are, without seeking to change them.

Moreover, there is a growing emphasis on mental health and self-care within the singles community this year. More than half (58%) are openly discussing mental well-being, adopting "slow dating" practices (31%), and seeking partners who also value self-care (36%).

2. Inclusivity > Judgment

People are more progressive and more vocal when it comes to the preferences and standards they uphold, especially in the context of relationships.

There has been a trend of widening age range filters, indicating a growing acceptance and openness to connections across all ages. This year, age is no longer a decisive factor for a significant majority—2 in 3 (63%) individuals—reflecting an inclusive approach to dating dynamics.

This shift is more common among women, with 59% expressing openness to dating younger partners. Additionally, there's a positive trend towards embracing age gap relationships, as more than one in three (35%) women have become less judgmental about it over the past year.

Aside from that, people are more diverse when it comes to topics surrounding masculinity and gender roles, especially among men. A notable 25% of surveyed men have actively embraced vulnerability in their romantic connections, leading to improvements in their well-being. For a significant portion (32%) of respondents, prioritizing openness and vulnerability has emerged as a fundamental pillar in fostering meaningful and fulfilling relationships.

3. Shared Values and Norms = Compatibility

The quest for genuine connections based on shared values and principles is taking precedence over superficiality. People express preference over individuals who share the same political views, with a significant portion expressing being "turned off" (33%) if their date lacks awareness of current social issues. And for 25% of Bumble respondents, being aware is not enough; attraction happens when one engages in political and social causes.

4. Connection Without Deadlines

Marriage no longer seems to be the end goal of relationships; long-term connections are. 35% of women no longer adhere to traditional timelines, giving up the pressure to conform, and instead prioritizing building meaningful and long-term connections that are compatible with their beliefs and values. Majority (72%) prioritize lasting relationships over the 23% who seek marriage.
