"Even bad breakups can be used for good." That's the message Caritas Manila is sending with the launch of its #BreakUpBox initiative. If you've been holding onto things from your past relationship—whether out of nostalgia, pain, or just plain forgetfulness—this might be the perfect chance to declutter your life while making a meaningful impact on others.
Donate with Caritas Manila's #BreakUpBox
Despite the name, the #BreakUpBox isn't just for tossing old love letters or framed couple photos (though emotional decluttering is always a plus). This initiative by Caritas Manila, a non-profit organization dedicated to "human development, poverty alleviation, and the creation of a Christian community with a strong social conscience," focuses on giving pre-loved but still valuable items a second life.
By donating clothes, bags, accessories, shoes, or any other useful items that might have been gifted by an ex, you're not just getting rid of painful reminders—you're turning them into something positive. These donations will go toward Caritas Manila's social welfare programs, helping individuals and families in need.
So, if you've been waiting for a sign to clear out those old memories, this is it. Pack up, drop off, and move on—because while some things are meant to be left in the past, kindness and generosity will always have a future. As Caritas Manila puts it, "Your ex may not have a second chance, but their belongings do."

How Caritas Manila's #BreakUpBox Works
Letting go doesn't have to be complicated. Here's how you can be part of the #BreakUpBox movement:
Step 1: Pack Up the Past
Find a box and fill it with pre-loved items that can still be used—clothes, shoes, bags, or even home items that you no longer want. Just make sure they're in good condition!
Step 2: Drop It Off
Caritas Manila has set up designated donation points where you can bring your #BreakUpBox. These locations include:
- Gift Corner, 3rd Floor, Market Market, Taguig City
- Level 3, Farmer’s Plaza, Cubao, Quezon City
- 2nd Floor, Fairview Terraces, Quezon City
- Caritas Manila Inc. Compound, Pandacan, Manila
- Ground Floor, 500 Shaw, Mandaluyong City
- Riverbank Mall, Marikina City
- 3rd Floor, StarMall Edsa-Shaw, Mandaluyong City
Step 3: Take Receipts
After dropping off your donation, take a photo of your contribution—you'll even receive a token of appreciation from Caritas Manila.
