One might think that when dating, you should highlight the best parts of yourself—your achievements, your successes—almost as if you're crafting a job application or building a resume. However, according to Bumble’s 2025 dating predictions, this approach is apparently no longer effective.

In fact, being true to yourself—embracing your weaknesses, knowing what you truly want, and shedding any pretension—could be the key to avoiding heartbreak and finding the love of your life in 2025. As Bumble’s predictions reveal, people are increasingly prioritizing authenticity and transparency when seeking real connections. "Self-empowerment" now hinges on this, with individuals valuing vulnerability over superficiality and support over outdated timelines.

"What we’re seeing is a big shift towards realness, people are being increasingly more transparent, future-proofing themselves, and taking the time to find somebody to support their unique interests, before committing to a relationship," Chen Meihui, APAC Communications Lead at Bumble, explained.

With 400,000 Gen Z and millennial users participating in the study, including a significant number of Filipinos, Bumble said that if you're tired of people-pleasing, you're not alone. The data shows that women are becoming increasingly clear about what they want and need in a relationship, and, just as importantly, what they are no longer willing to tolerate.

Three out of four women (72 percent) are looking to find a long-term partner in the coming year. But two in three women (64 percent) say they value honesty and are no longer willing to make compromises. This shift signals a movement towards more authentic and self-aware dating, where boundaries are respected, and relationships are built on mutual understanding.

What Dating in 2025 Will Look Like, According to Bumble

1. Small gestures will go a long way

People no longer need extravagant displays of affection to feel valued. In fact, small gestures have become the new norm in the dating scene. What Bumble refers to as "micro-mance" highlights how people now appreciate love through simple, meaningful actions, such as "sending memes, sharing a playlist, or exchanging inside jokes during morning coffee walks."

It’s the everyday moments, the small yet thoughtful gestures, that now hold more value. The mundane has taken precedence, showing that true connections are built through consistency and sincerity rather than grand gestures.

2. Realistic expectations will replace idealistic, impractical assumptions

We all have expectations of what people should be like, and that’s perfectly normal. However, it might be time to revisit those expectations and ask yourself if they are realistic rather than overly idealistic. According to Bumble's data, three in five (66 percent) Filipino singles are embracing more authentic dating and relationship content, acknowledging that no relationship is perfect. Hence, embracing the good and the bad, the highs and the lows is just as important. More than half of Filipino singles (56 percent) also believe that realistic, positive dating content leads to greater optimism about their own love lives.

Single people are also valuing open communication and shared healthy goals. Authenticity is at the core of this shift—it’s about showing up as your true self. 44 percent of women in the Philippines reported feeling more carefree, confident, and less anxious as a result of this change.

3. Security and stability over fantasy

It’s no longer just butterflies. The data from Bumble highlights a shift in how Filipino singles approach relationships, with an increasing emphasis on security and stability rather than idealized fantasies. 56 percent of Filipino singles now find "unique and quirky interests" to be an attractive quality, reflecting a shift away from superficial traits to a deeper connection through shared passions. This focus on individuality and authenticity speaks to the larger trend of seeking genuine relationships based on mutual interests, compatibility, and emotional connection.

Moreover, people are now well-informed and concerned about future uncertainties—such as finances, job security, and climate change—which led many singles to prioritize stability in their relationships. As much as people may fantasize about ideal partners and dreamy, effortless love stories, the reality is that, for many, security and consistency now take precedence.

65 percent of Filipino women have expressed the desire for emotionally reliable and goal-oriented partners. The data also shows that a growing number of women globally (27 percent) are pushing to have these serious conversations earlier in dating, setting the tone for transparency and aligning expectations on important life topics like "budgeting, housing, and career ambitions."
