David Licauco has undeniably stolen the hearts of many with his now-iconic role in the hit series Maria Clara at Ibarra, cementing his spot as one of GMA’s heartthrobs to watch. That said, it’s no surprise that fans are *intrigued* about his dating status, albeit the actor is pretty good at keeping his love life low-key.
In an interview with Boy Abunda, David explains his decision to keep his relationships under wraps. “For some reason, ayoko lang na pinag-uusapan yung relationship ko, yung private life ko.”
He reveals that he’s now single, a statement that Tito Boy quickly tried to rebut, noting reports that he got back together with an ex-girlfriend who is “smart” and “very beautiful.”
“Hindi,” David responded, taken aback. The host went on, “I know you separated [and] there was another guy involved. Was that the reason why you didn’t get back?”
“I would say that was the reason behind the breakup, among other things. Yun yung pinaka-main reason,” David admitted.
The interviewer further put the actor in the ~*hot seat*~ when he asked him about his ex-girlfriend wanting to settle down when they were together and David “not being ready” for the move.
Confessing that it’s true, David explained, “Go-getter kasi ako and mas gusto ko yung career muna. And siya kasi, nasa stage siya na…”
He laughs, shaking his head in amusement that Boy knew about the details. ”Di ko gets bakit alam. Parang wala naman akong sinabihan!”
“Nagkabalikan kami pero nag-decide kami maghiwalay na for good. Di na naayos.”
Aside from being an actor, David is also an established entrepreneur, owning several food establishments. Despite his success, he shares that he still has much to improve. “I’m still working on myself, marami pa ‘kong kailangang gawin. Human nature is we’re never satisfied. So parang ako, I wanna aim higher all the time.
“Pero siyempre kailangan nating maging grateful. Kasi kung di ka grateful, magiging insecure ka siguro, mag-o-overthink.”
