Rumor has it that Julia Barretto and Erich Gonzales might not be besties anymore. And it's only because eagle-eyed netizens spotted that Julia is no longer following Erich on Instagram.
It's been a while since the public saw the two celebrities together. Julia has been out and about finishing project after project. Her recent mini-series called Secret Ingredient just finished airing. And now, she is preparing for her comeback film with her ex-boyfriend Joshua Garcia titled, Unhappy For You.
Erich, on the other hand, has managed to keep some distance from her showbiz life after she got married. She even went private on Instagram. It was just recently this year that she was spotted having an "Aivee Day" at Dr. Aivee Teo's clinic.
Well, we believe that friendship goes beyond Instagram. For the most part, friendships are all about connecting outside the realms of social media. FYI, Julia and Erich have showcased their sisterhood many times more than expected in the past.
How did Julia Barretto and Erich Gonzales become friends?
For all those curious, Julia and Erich began their friendship because of a magazine photoshoot. In an interview with Boy Abunda, the two happily talked about how they "hit it off" right away.
"Three years ago po 'yun Tito Boy, nagkaroon po kami ng magazine shoot, we just hit it off right away. Nakakahawa po 'yung pag-English niya. Nagno-nosebleed po ako minsan— madalas," Erich enthusiastically mentioned in the interview.
As for Julia, it was also a surprise that she managed to get closer to Erich in a short span of time. "I didn't expect that, siya 'yung magiging... I'd click with her so naturally and just right away," Julia recalled.

September 2018: Erich Gonzales celebrated her 28th birthday with the Barretto Family
Just like what Erich also said in the interview with Tito Boy, she felt really welcomed into the Barretto family. Back then, she revealed that she even called Marjorie Barretto, "mom," as well and she really cherishes it.
True enough, the Barrettos are really fond of Erich. Just a few days before her actual 28th birthday, Julia's whole family threw a simple yet special birthday party for Erich. Marjorie even posted it on Instagram with the caption, "Celebrating her birthday days ahead, because we love this girl so much."
The post included a video of the Barretro family singing a happy birthday song for Erich. Julia was sweetly hugging Erich in the video, while her sister, Claudia Barretto gave Erich a cake. What a precious moment!
Weeks earlier, Erich was seen relaxing at the Barretto home. In a post by Marjorie Barretto, Erich is seen getting cozy with Julia and brother Leon.

Surgeries are scary. You can never know what will happen until it's over. For Julia's case though, she knew she'd be alright as Erich openly held her hand as she went through a minor eye surgery!
Their cute moment together was uploaded via Instagram stories and people can't help but gush over it. Bestie goals, for sure!
June 2019: Erich Gonzales asks daring questions to Julia Barretto
One more thing that we love about Erich and Julia is how open and clingy they are with each other. As their friendship bloomed, the two also found a confidante with each other. Their six-year age gap was not even an issue between the two ladies.
In 2019, Erich uploaded a vlog where Julia answered some "unchartered" questions for the first time in her career. It was all fun and games because she was doing it with her close friend, Erich. After all, they both have the "no-secret" kind of friendship!

In the vlog, they played a game of "True or False," where Erich asked Julia a series of questions to help us get to know her better. There, Julia spilled a *lot* of stuff about her specifically, she was a hugger, she's attracted to smart people, she's a hoarder, and that she can't sleep without her old security blanket that's already 22 years old!
It was also the first time that Julia admitted that she was in love after her viral breakup with Joshua at the time. But it was not love for anyone yet back then. She elaborated, "I am very much in love with the peace I gained just recently. It's not with anybody... I'm not trying to say that I'm not in love with anybody. I'm just in love with the peace that I gained."
Aside from everything we've mentioned, Julia and Erich have shared the most candid moments as girl friends. They even rode a motorcycle taxi or what we call habal-habal just to make it in time for a Coldplay concert! And of course, they had their fair share of travels! They went to Hong Kong for a very spontaneous trip.
