Just as the holiday season was winding down, Megan Young and Mikael Daez gifted their fans and family with one more surprise—a pahabol announcement that had everyone excited. In a TikTok video, the couple shared a glimpse of one of the most exciting moments in any pregnancy: the gender reveal!

Like most expectant parents, Megan and Mikael couldn't resist making their own guesses. Megan confidently said she felt it was a baby girl, while Mikael admitted he'd been 90% sure it was a girl—though, on the same day, he lowered his odds to 80%, thinking it might be a boy after all.

When the big moment finally came, their reaction was priceless. Surrounded by family, they popped the balloon, and blue confetti rained down—Baby No. 1 is a boy!

Megan Young and Mikael Daez's relationship journey

Megan and Mikael have always been open about their journey as a couple—talking about relationships, building a family, and even the pressures that come with pregnancy. The pair has consistently challenged societal norms, previously revealing that having a baby wasn't part of their immediate plans.

In their podcast Behind Relationship Goals, they tackled the topic in an episode titled "Our Baby Plans—Now Na Ba?" Megan shared how she used to imagine being a mom earlier in life but later on realized that that timeline is not a one-size-fits all. "I thought I was gonna have kids by 25. Siguro mga high school, sabi ko sa sarili ko, 'I think I'm gonna get married around 24 or 25 and then I'll have kids right after.' Because that's what I was used to seeing," Megan recalled.

Mikael also opened up about how circumstances such as the pandemic affected his perspective on having kids, particularly considering Megan's health. "Current circumstances have been dictating how I feel about it...Let's say Bonez is pregnant and she has to go to the hospital. And what if, the current situation dictates that she has to go alone to limit the exposure of people in a hospital setting? That adds another layer of fear and anxiety, even if I was allowed to go with her and accompany her...There's an extra layer of fear that for me, if I could control it, I would rather not feel," Mikael explained while filming during lockdown.

The couple also addressed societal pressure to have children in another podcast episode in 2022, where they discussed how Filipinos often expect couples to start a family immediately. Megan offered a refreshing perspective. "Some people are curious as to why that's our point of view because I guess it's not normal, or it's not like a common thing for couples to be like, 'Yeah, we're fine even if we don’t have kids.'" she said.

Mikael echoed her sentiments, adding that he respected Megan's stance and acknowledged the challenges women face when it comes to pregnancy.
