Like many of us, Kapuso actress Barbie Forteza enjoys spending her free time on TikTok. And just like us, the Pulang Araw star discovers a lot of trending topics on the app. In her latest TikTok, she referenced the triangle method while using the trending "Lockjaw" audio, a 1992 song by Sir Mix-a-Lot. If you're as curious as we are about the triangle method, don't worry—we did the snooping for you.

What is the triangle method in Barbie Forteza's TikTok?

Chances are if you're a chronically online TikTok user, you've probably already seen the triangle method on your FYP before. But what is it, exactly? The triangle method is a flirty body language technique that subtly signals your interest in the person in front of you. It's like a teasing version of "makuha ka sa tingin" where you throw covert glances at a cute guy (or girl) to show that you're into them. Actions speak louder than words, at least with this flirting technique!

Although it rose to popularity as a trending TikTok tip, the concept is also backed by psychology. According to Pop Sugar, the triangle method, or "triangular gazing," entices the other person to kiss you.

Clinical psychologist and Holistic Wisdom CEO Lisa Lawless also shared in the same interview that there's published research that suggests that both falling in love with someone and even mere sexual interest in them can cause you to look at their faces more. She also explains that when potential partners make eye contact for a prolonged period, they will likely cultivate a deeper level of intimacy. This causes the brain to release hormones like oxytocin, which are associated with long-term bonding and attraction.

How do you do the triangle method?

If you already have your target locked, so to speak, imagine tracing an invisible triangle on their face with your gaze, LOL. Specifically, start by looking at the person's left eye, then their right eye, move downward to look at their mouth, and then glance back up to their left eye. The key is doing it with finesse. It'll likely work better and feel less awkward compared to a quick pass-over of these features.

According to body language expert and author Patti Wood, MA, this method works because the mouth and eyes are part of the face's "golden triangle", which is the most looked at during interactions. For example, lingering eye contact is a sign of interest and can be arousing for some. Looking at someone's mouth, on the other hand, can signal that you want to lean in for a kiss.

Don't rely on it completely though! What can secure a next date or even a potential life partner isn't as simple as this, and many other factors can make or break a potential relationship. It's just good to have this in your back pocket. Will you be using it like Barbie, too?
