The rise of social media has accelerated a dating pattern: A sizable chunk of relationships start on dating apps, providing people with more options to find romantic connections aside from what they have IRL. But even though it’s fairly common at this point for couples to meet online, the ~*rizz*~ doesn't come naturally to everyone. In fact, dating apps can be super-stressful, especially for women who struggle with making the first move.

Bumble releases new feature allowing women to not always message first 

In a report released by Bumble, it was stated that women globally are exhausted with the current state of dating. Amidst changing expectations and behaviors, nearly two in three (61%) say that dating is more work for women than it is for men, with nearly three in four (70%) have experienced dating app burnout.

To help address the pain point, Bumble just *hard launched* a new feature to make the swiping process easier for female users. The project was called Opening Moves, an evolution of the app’s signature Make The First Move, which gives women more choice in how they date.

Opening Moves is part of a romance reset—a ~*fresh*~ approach to dating for the better. The new feature gives women the option to set a question that sends post-match for their connection to respond to.

This comes as Bumble found that nearly half of women (46%) agreed that having more ways to start a conversation would make their dating app experience even better. Along with Opening Moves, Bumble is introducing other features to its algorithm. Users can now add two “Dating Intentions,” like “intimacy, without commitment” and “ethical nonmonogamy” to their profiles.

They can also input character traits that they prioritize, such as “loyalty” or “sarcasm,” and add causes that they support, like feminism, to help the app's algorithm find their potential matches.
