Here's a fun fact about Jessy Mendiola: She loves collecting jewelry. When she started earning as an artista, one of the things she saved up for is a pair of diamond studs.
"My first-ever jewelry purchase was a pair of stud earrings," the actress told Cosmopolitan Philippines during the store opening of Manila Diamond Studio at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall. "I was super proud [of myself] kasi siyempre, it was my first-ever jewelry. Diamonds pa. I really saved up for it."
According to Jessy, she chose to buy a pair of studs because it's a "classic" piece. She added, "It goes with everything. Pwede mo suotin kahit pupunta ka lang sa gym, mall, or event." Real jewelry doesn't come cheap, after all, so it's always a good idea to buy something that you can wear on repeat.
Currently, Jessy's favorites from her personal collection are "tennis necklaces and bracelets", which she bought from the said fine jeweler. They're made of a single strand of diamonds that looks simply elegant and is quite versatile, too. She shared, "May iba't ibang sizes and length and pwede mo sila i-stack."
If you're planning to invest in jewelry for the first time, here's a piece of advice from Jessy: "You don't have to go big right away. You don't have to spend a lot. Don't rush. Take your time. As the years go by, mapapansin mo na lang, pag tingin mo ng jewelry box mo, parang, 'Oh my gosh! Ang dami ko na pala na-collect.'"
