There seems to be a "taboo" in repeating outfits when you're a celeb. They're expected to have access to an unlimited amount of clothing and can afford to hire a stylist to create winning OOTDs. But Maine Mendoza wants to normalize outfit-repeating even for public figures.
It all started when one fan shared on X that they spotted Maine re-wearing an outfit that people have seen before: "eto yung zara green dress sa prenup shoot nila ni hubby nya. Ang babaeng walang paki kahit ulit-ulitin ang damit on & offcam. sic]"

The said Zara dress was worn by Maine when she was in the U.S. to film her prenup video. She was seen wearing it again during a recent Eat Bulaga! episode.

Maine replied to the said tweet and asked why outfit repeating sounded like a big deal. "Ang tagal ko nang curious! Hindi ko gets yung big deal sa iba ang pag ulit ng damit ng public figures. Hehe serious question.. may issue ba sa pag ulit ng damit?" she wondered.

The fan then clarified that there was a time when paparazzi shots of celebs went viral when the stars were seen in the same outfit. And back then, it was considered a fashion faux pas to repeat a look.
Thankfully, things are getting progressive. The most notable moment was when the internet got obsessed with Kate Middleton, the Princess of Wales, for re-wearing dresses even if she's literally part of the royal family!
The netizen expressed their admiration Maine for her practicality: "I think nung panahon kase grabe yung mga paparazzi sa celebrities na naguulit ng damit. Parang social symbol yan. D ko sure ha [sic]. Lol it is one of the reasons why we super admire you. Isa ka sa iilang " a lister" pinay [sic] celebrities na walang arte at proud outfit repeater."

Maine will always keep it real, and we love her for that!
