Michelle Dee may not have taken home the Miss Universe 2023 crown, finishing her journey at the Top 10, but she surely made Pinoys proud with her stellar performance!
Our jaws dropped when she stepped out in a *black* gown by Mark Bumgarner, which features intricate tattoo-like embellishments. It was inspired by 106-year-old Filipina tattoo artist Apo Whang-Od "who’s helped her keep her unique cultural tradition alive."

Take a look at the stunning back details:

In an Instagram post, Michelle talked more about the symbolic meaning behind her dress. "A tribute to a legendary Filipina who has become an icon, preserving the rich cultural heritage of indigenous tattoo art. She has achieved global recognition and symbolizes timeless beauty, coinciding with Miss Universe lifting its age restrictions, championing inclusivity and challenging age stereotypes," she wrote. "A true icon and the last of her kind, a symbol of bravery, beauty, and inclusivity… Whang Od. The evening gown draws inspiration from the icon, with every stitch crafted passionately and proudly dedicated to our country. It is a creation by my friend and designer of dreams, @markbumgarner."

We're so proud of you, Michelle!
