We're sharing some good news to start your week! Valeen Montenegro wed her non-showbiz boyfriend, Riel Manuel. The couple married in Santuario de San Antonio Parish in Forbes Park, Makati on January 12, 2024.
Valeen walked down the aisle wearing an off-shoulder, column wedding gown designed by the bride's college best friend, Banggo Niu. The designer revealed in an IG post that back when they were still students, he had told Valeen that he *would* create her bridal dress someday.
He wrote in his caption: "My college best friend, @valeentawak, is getting married today! I will never forget the time I told you back in university that I would make your wedding gown! And now, the time has come! It’s an honor to be a part of this new chapter in your life, Vee! Love you!"
Brides usually prepare two dresses for their wedding day: the ceremony gown and party dress for the reception. Banggo and Valeen chose to be practical and smart—Banggo made a convertible gown! Valeen's dress had a detachable neckline and train so it would look like a beaded strapless dress just in time for the reception! She didn't need to switch to a different gown just to enjoy the party. This trend is nothing new, but we insist that brides-to-be take down notes from this fashion collab between longtime friends.

Convertible gowns transform into a different dress with a few alterations of detachable details. This allows the bride to quickly change so she can join the reception and party ~*right away*~ with her friends and family. Plus, it also saves the bride money because she doesn't need to spend on another dress. And if she's mindful of the environment, one wedding gown vs. two dresses is a more sustainable choice.
Valeen's hair and makeup were just as timeless and elegant as her wedding dress. Celeb makeup artist Toni Aviles chose to use soft pinks and neutral hues to highlight Valeen's features. The bride's middle-parted updo pairs so well with her off-the-shoulder gown.
For the reception, Toni transformed Valeen's updo into a wavy short bob. We think it definitely suits the more easygoing vibe of the party.
