I am the type who owns micro bags and big bags. I love the cuteness of tiny bags (I even got a Samsung Flip5 to cater to this side of me), and I appreciate the roominess of oversized satchels.
I know in my heart that there has to be a middle ground in this pretty but practical bag dilemma. Just a few weeks ago, I discovered the local handbag brand, Calli bags. They showcase Filipino elements in every piece: From wood carving, solihiya weaving to hand embroidery.
Tessa Nepomuceno, the woman behind Calli, first introduced the brand 10 years ago. We're not surprised that it has a growing loyal following both here and abroad, thanks to the supreme craftsmanship found in every piece. Calli employs wood carvers from Paete, solihiya weavers from Moonwalk, and dedicated embroiderers from Merville.
I'm partial to the Ayesha bag, which is part of the 10 by Calli collection. It features a solihiya weave plus calf leather trimmings. I especially love the cotton strap that allows me to wear it as a crossbody. It's available in black, tan, and white.

This bag can fit the following:
- Sunnies eyeglasses case
- Two hand sanitizers
- Aesop hand balm
- Rom&nd Lip Tint
- Sunnies Face Fluffbalm
- Two phone chargers
- iPhone 14
- Samsung Galaxy Z Flip5
- Small tumbler (!!!)
- Pen
- JBL wireless earbuds
- Tide pen
- A scrunchie
- Company ID
- Wallet
Pretty much a lot, right? The Ayesha bag is still roomy even with all of these items inside! It's available in black, white, and tan.
